Helping Fight Hunger at Feeding America Southwest VA

1 in 8 people in Southwest Virginia are at risk of going hungry. You can help fight hunger by sorting donated canned and boxed food items in the Quality Assurance area at Feeding America Southwest Virginia. More than 60,000 lbs of food is rescued each month thanks to the work that volunteers do in the this area. The process includes inspecting and sorting dented cans, crushed boxes, or other superficially damaged food to ensure the food inside is safe and meets both Federal Government and Feeding America guidelines. The minimum age for Quality Assurance is 16 years. Volunteers must have the ability to stand for long periods of time and lift light loads. Orientation and training is provided at the beginning of your shift. Please wear closed toe shoes. Snacks will be provided. You are encouraged to wear your favorite Elevation shirt. Volunteer parking is located behind the warehouse and can be accessed from Boulevard or Electric Road. To access the building, use Volunteer Entrance located at back of warehouse. Contact the host at the email provided with any questions.
